St. James School Volunteer Hours Program 

Many Hands Make Light Work!

At St. James, we are blessed with families who give their time and talent to help our school thrive. Your volunteer efforts not only support our programs and events but also show our students the importance of service and community.

Volunteer Hour Requirements

  • Families with students in Grades K–8: 20 volunteer hours per school year
  • Families with students in PS3–PreK: 10 volunteer hours per school year

Hours must be completed between August 1 and May 8 each year.
8th-grade families – hours must be logged and fees paid before graduation.

Ways to Volunteer

There are many opportunities to get involved! For example:

  • Attending PSA Meetings (1 hour each)
  • Classroom Assistance
  • CCW Breakfast
  • Knights of Columbus Breakfast
  • Fall & Spring Quilt Bingos
  • Dinner Auction
  • Recess Duty
  • Office Assistance
  • Sports Activities

Safety

Reporting Procedures:
If there is suspicion of child abuse concerning a student, DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services) must be notified along with the school principal. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school principal.

In accordance with the Belleville Diocese’s Child Protection Policy, anyone who volunteers at St. James School in any capacity must complete the following steps.

Parents and grandparents who wish to volunteer on field trips, in the lunchrooms or in any other way should make arrangements well in advance to begin this process. For more information, contact the school or church office.
